14 January 2024

An open letter dated 10 January 2024 was sent to the current Director-General and Chief Executive of The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) which questions whether His Majesty King Charles III was in full possession of the facts when he agreed to make his predecessor a KCMG in last year’s Birthday Honours list? The letter is available here

The grounds for this doubt are explained in the letter but it is made clear that there is no reason to believe that the new Director-General and Chief Executive is implicated at all.

(Publication of the letter from Law PB was delayed due to the original and copies being sent by first class post to the recipients.)

11 September 2023

A letter to the Deputy UK Prime Minster and Secretary of State for the Cabinet Office was sent today concerning the recently published ‘National Risk Register: 2023 edition’. It points out that an existential threat is missing from his matrix in the NRR23. Law PB claims that H.M. Government is deliberately seeking to mislead the public (via other experts) as to the seriousness of this omission.

A copy of the letter is available here while a signed original (but without active url links) is provided here .

The reason for publishing this on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States is to contrast the religious motivations in that terrorist attack with those behind this ‘9/11’ challenge. That the former is taken so much more seriously than the latter is a barometer of how little political institutions understand of the way the ‘real’ world of international conflict actually ‘works’ over the long term. That refusal to learn may eventually cost the world the equivalent in lives of up to a thousand 9/11s every day for seven years.

28 June 2023

Following Law PB’s letter to Parliament of 28 June 2022, explaining why he had issued a nuclear crisis Red Alert in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he has today written to his local Member of Parliament with a copy of his letter to HM Attorney General entitled ‘Sleepwalking into the Third Nuclear Detonation in War: Why?’. It is available here

This latest letter outlines what he believes to be the Attorney General’s, and her predecessors’, share of responsibility for the gravity of the situation the MP and her constituents are facing today, arising from circumstances over thirty years ago that created the conditions for the current Russia-Ukraine war.

He is copying this letter to the Attorney General to all MPs in the UK Parliament and to the media for information, although he is well aware of the strict Parliamentary convention that MPs can only take up issues raised by individuals in their own constituencies. However, this one concerns the survival of us all.

22 February 2023

An open letter today (Ash Wednesday) to the current Archbishop of Canterbury claims that his book, ‘The Power of Reconciliation’ (Bloomsbury, 2022), subordinates theology to politics: ‘It is the purpose of this letter to challenge this unbiblical outlook and call for an end to the long line of Archbishops of Canterbury since the 1970s, with one possible exception, who have presided over a long decline of identity in England with the Church of Christ.’

The author of the letter, Peter Southwood, after presenting a summary of the evidence for this claim and identifying seven differences between the Archbishop’s method of analysing conflicts and his own, concludes that the Archbishop, like his predecessors (bar one), does not accept the authority of Mark 1: 15 ‘….where peace and reconciliation in Christ at the national and international levels are concerned.’

While acknowledging the Archbishop’s personal commitment to Christ, as priest and pastor, as well as his physical and moral courage before and during his archiepiscopate, the author reminds him: ‘During the sermon you gave at the funeral for our late Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth II, you spoke against leaders who outstay their tenure in a just and courageous way. As a brother in Christ, I must now ask you the question you put to others: have you outstayed your mandate?

Note

There is reference in the above letter to an earlier one to the then (Lord) Chief Justice of England and Wales dated 29 September 2012 which was copied to the Archbishop of Canterbury. It is available here.

01 November 2022

This is All Saints Day when Christians remember those ordinary members of the Church over the last two thousand years whose lives as witnesses, disciples or martyrs were shaped and driven by Jesus Christ, the pioneer of our faith. Joining together all who have died in that faith with those alive now in one eternal communion in His Kingdom built by the Holy Spirit and dedicated to the worship of the one true and only God, the Holy Trinity, all live in Christ.

One such person was our late Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth II, who though the first in this land lived her life as the servant of her people and her King of Kings. On the 27 January 2022, during the advent of her Platinum Jubilee anticipated on 6 February, I wrote her a tribute in celebration of her reign. Since Her Majesty graciously did not object nor her successor, His Majesty King Charles III, I am now honoured to be able to publish it here.

As the season of Advent approaches (27 November) only faith in God can save us now.

28 September 2022

Today an open letter dated 24 September 2022 from (Dr) Peter Southwood to Lord Justice Holroyde of the English Court of Appeal, inviting him to consider his position, is published here against the background of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February.

The documents referred to therein include:

* Southwood’s letter of 11 November 2018 in response to this judge’s decisions in The Queen on application of Southwood (Appellant) v The Rt Hon. Lord Goldsmith QC (Respondent) of 1 November 2018 available here [then scroll down to documentation of 18 January 2019].

* A summary of Southwood’s legal case, first published on 31 October 2019, against the two Attorneys General who held office during 2018 (Interested Party) and Lord Goldsmith (Defendant) that they had chosen to commit offences under the Perjury Act 1911 rather than admit error in Southwood’s civil case that year. The summary is available here [then scroll down to documentation of 31 October 2019 - ‘Overview’].

Note: The delay in publishing the letter of 24 September 2022 was to ensure that the judge and others named as recipients first had time to receive it in the post and consider its contents.

31 August 2022

Peter Southwood notes with deep regret the death of Mikhail Gorbachev, the final leader of the Soviet Union (1985-1991), which was reported yesterday.

As sole General Editor of Briefing No. 1 of the Project on Demilitarisation (Prodem) he had described Gorbachev in March 1993 as ‘…one of the greatest peacemakers of modern times.’ This Final Conclusion to Briefing No. 1 is available here.

Now that Gorbachev has died Western leaders are prepared to acknowledge his decisive role in ending the Cold War. Back in the 1990s, though, it was their forbears who claimed to have ‘won’ and that view of Gorbachev as a great peacemaker was deemed controversial by the English charity regulator.

The world is living with the consequences of the West’s failure to face up to its share of responsibility for creating the current climate threatening a Great Power war, as foreseen in 1993-1995.

23 July 2022

Following up on his letter to Parliament of 28 June 2022, Law PB today publishes an open letter to the Chair of the Charity Commission for England and Wales available here .

He calls for a ‘thorough-going purge’ of what he alleges to be criminal fraud and/or misconduct in public office by the Board of the Charity Commission in order to remedy the situation and help avoid a NATO-Russia war, with a high risk of escalation to the nuclear level.

His letter is being copied to the Director of the Serious Fraud Office and the new Metropolitan Police Commissioner for their urgent attention.

28 June 2022

Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022 an explanation is called for as to how the same country could have provided the Gorbachev ‘peace offensive’ of 1985-1991 and this violent form of demilitarisation today?

The long story is briefly summarised in Law PB’s open letter to the UK Parliament today containing a ‘Nuclear Crisis – Red alert’.

The letter is available here (unsigned with active URL links) and here (signed without URL links). The previous ‘Amber Alert’ dated 11 September 2014 is available here.

23 July 2021

Being unable to resolve the issues raised in his letter to IISS of 27 January 2021 under the civil law, Law PB now brings a criminal complaint against the IISS Trustees and Director-General and Chief Executive based on the Fraud Act 2006, s. 1(2)(a) – (fraud by false representation).

Details are being passed openly to the Serious Fraud Office and Metropolitan Police due to the complicity in the alleged offence by the Charity Commission for England and Wales and current and previous English Attorneys General.
